Before a crew is put on a site, the entity behind it needs checking: right to work for every person, ABN and insurances for the business, licences where the work requires them, and wage and superannuation arrangements. Government, education and certified contracts test this hardest.

Underpayment and unlawful worker stories land on the head contractor, so principals now audit the onboarding file, not just the invoice. Filed PDFs cannot tell you which visa check has expired.
