Annual fire safety statement readiness checklist

When you need this form

Before a fire safety statement is signed, someone has to walk the building. This checklist runs that pass: equipment servicing current, exits clear, signage legible, alarms tested, defects logged and closed. Property managers use it in the weeks leading up to the annual statement date, and again after remediation. Getting it wrong stalls the statement and leaves an occupied building with open fire-safety defects.

A checklist ticked in an office proves nothing. Filled on site, each item carries a timestamp, a location and a photo of the actual extinguisher, door or exit sign, so the certifier and the owner can see what was inspected. Open defects stay visible until closure evidence is attached, and nothing quietly disappears between passes.

• Each fire measure checked against its last service date and tag.
• Exit paths, doors and signage verified clear and operable, with photos.
• Defects logged with severity, location and the contractor assigned.
• Rectification evidence attached before the item is marked closed.
• Readiness status summarised and signed by the responsible manager.
