When you need this form

Aged care sites clean continuously, and the record has to keep up. Resident rooms, communal lounges, dining areas and high-touch surfaces are cleaned across every shift, with extra rounds during an outbreak. Providers run environmental cleaning as part of their infection prevention controls, and assessors sample the evidence. A log completed at the end of the week is not evidence of anything.

Recording each area as it is finished changes the conversation with an assessor. Times are real, exceptions like a room that could not be entered are captured with a reason, and photos back up terminal cleans. During an outbreak review, being able to show which rooms were cleaned, when, and by whom is the difference between a comfortable audit and a scramble.

What good looks like

• Each area logged as completed, with the actual time it finished.
• Room and wing identified, including isolation or precaution status where relevant.
• Cleaning type recorded: routine, discharge or terminal clean.
• Exceptions captured with a reason, such as a resident declining entry.
• Photo evidence and shift supervisor sign-off before the shift closes.
